Moving into another season with the Immersion Paintings and considering the benefits of 'scaling up'. Not to anything monumental - although increasingly I'm working outside so space is not so much of a problem. The climate however is unreliable and the days are getting short....
3ft square seems like a good option. Large enough to accomodate more of a sense of human scale although still pretty much easel size and portable. This size will also hang comfortably within the average room - but I'm not particularly interested in that! If you like a painting enough you will always find space for it. That's another discussion....
As ever my own 'immersion' into landscape and more specifically undergrowth is my starting point. Exploring that limnal space between the inner and outer worlds. Each season offers up the opportunity to explore a different palette and range of mark making both of which are central to the development of these immersive works.
