For a long time, I didn’t really talk about running in relation to my art.
 It was there, of course. I ran through the landscape that inspires me — the lanes, hedgerows and holloways of North Cornwall — returning to the same places again and again, in different weather, different seasons and different states of mind.
 But somehow I kept these two parts of my life separate.

Having the exhibition installed for a month was really valuable, particularly in terms of the amount of time I was able to spend alone with the work and consider how it functioned alongside the other work in this thoughtfully curated space. In addition, much like an open studio environment, I was able to talk with visitors, many of whom offered insightful and valuable feedback on both my work in particular and the exhibition as a whole. What a tremendous day! It really couldn’t have gone any better. What a pleasure it was to host such a fantastic group of invited artists. Everyone had been given the theme and some initial instructions beforehand, and they responded brilliantly — with such consideration, depth and thoughtfulness. They all arrived fully prepared, bringing samples of work, writings, readings and conceptual ideas. They truly brought so much to the table — quite literally! We spent the morning pr
