Treeology - Invited artists' collaboration / workshop day 08/08/26

What a tremendous day! It really couldn’t have gone any better.

What a pleasure it was to host such a fantastic group of invited artists. Everyone had been given the theme and some initial instructions beforehand, and they responded brilliantly — with such consideration, depth and thoughtfulness. They all arrived fully prepared, bringing samples of work, writings, readings and conceptual ideas. They truly brought so much to the table — quite literally!

We spent the morning presenting, sharing and discussing ideas, with a wonderful generosity of thought and exchange throughout.

Then came a spontaneous shared lunch — completely unplanned, it just happened! Afterwards, everyone anonymously selected a theme, or ‘poetic score’, to respond to for the afternoon session. I had duplicated each theme to create spontaneous pairings, and once again, by pure chance, the pairings couldn’t have been more perfectly curated!

These unexpected partnerships led to some wonderful, insightful and thought-provoking responses, culminating in an exciting ‘forest floor’ plenary to bring the day to a close.

A truly inspiring day of sharing, making, thinking and connecting.
