General Context

I developed this series of work in response to the theme of “Treeology”—an exploration of the symbiotic relationship between human beings, plants and trees.

The work formed part of a group collaboration of the same name, which was formed in late 2025 and culminated in an exhibition at Terre Verte Gallery, North Cornwall, throughout August 2026.

Notes on my work

Collectively, these works invite viewers to consider how something as ordinary as a puddle can reveal a much larger story about interdependence, environmental change and the delicate balance that sustains both trees and ourselves.

Trees are essential to life. They act as the Earth's natural life-support system, producing the oxygen we breathe while absorbing the carbon dioxide we exhale. Their health is inseparable from our own.

Puddles become a recurring motif throughout this work. Although temporary and often overlooked, they symbolise the presence of water that sustains trees and the wider landscape. As the UK experiences increasingly longer, hotter and drier summers, the availability of water is becoming a growing concern for many of our native tree species.
